Where Rocket Money is stronger

Rocket Money's core service acts for you. It spots recurring charges, can cancel subscriptions on Premium, and negotiates some bills, charging a share of the savings only when it works. If your main goal is to stop paying for things you forgot about, that is hard to match with a planning app.

It also has a free tier and native mobile apps, and its premium price is on a sliding scale you choose.

Where Alluvium is different

Alluvium is about the plan, not the cleanup. You split income into a few buckets, see what's left to spend in each, and move money between them when life happens. Bills and subscriptions are in view, but Alluvium won't cancel or negotiate anything for you.

It's built for two. Your partner joins your subscription at no extra cost, with their own account, and you close each month together with a short review: everything categorized, everything seen, nothing overspent, both approve.

Bank connections run through Plaid; you can also import any CSV with a date, description and amount, or add accounts by hand.

Is Rocket Money worth it?

It can pay for itself if it finds subscriptions you forgot or lowers a bill. Look at the negotiation fee before agreeing: 35–60% of the first year's savings is a real cost, and the premium price varies by platform and over time.

Using both

Some people let a cleanup tool find waste once, then plan with something else. Nothing stops you running Rocket Money's free tier alongside Alluvium.
