Where Monarch is stronger
Monarch is built to show your whole financial picture: bank accounts, cards, loans, real estate and investments in one view, from more than 13,000 institutions. It has native apps for iPhone and Android, flexible budgets with optional rollovers, and shared goals for a household. If you want one place for spending and investments, it covers more ground.
Where Alluvium is different
Roles, not just access. In Monarch both partners see every account and transaction in the household. In Alluvium your partner has their own account with an owner, editor or viewer role, and each of you approves the month separately.
One month at a time. Each month owns its plan, and a new month can copy the last one’s buckets. Nothing rolls over, so a month’s numbers never change because of an earlier one. If you rely on rollovers, Monarch fits that habit better.
Rules in plain words. Write a rule as a sentence (If… Then…), check what it will do, then save it, and it files transactions for you. Rules use AI and need an account.
What it costs over a year
Monarch’s annual plan is $99.99; Alluvium’s is $59.99, $40.00 less. Price isn’t the deciding factor if you need investment tracking or want every account in one shared view.
Switching
Alluvium connects banks through Plaid, or imports any CSV with a date, description and amount; you map the columns once and can save the mapping.
